What does it really mean to Ganbaru—to never give up, even when the odds are against you?
For Eric Louviere, it wasn’t a philosophy he studied. It was a way of life he had to live.
Born and raised in Texas, Eric grew up in a household marked by verbal abuse and the weight of poverty. His father battled alcoholism, and life was far from easy. As a young boy, Eric made a quiet vow to himself: he would not become a product of his environment.
He wanted more for his life. For his mother. For his sister. For himself.
With nothing but belief and a few thousand dollars in his name, Eric started his first business in his twenties—a local business directory in the age of printed Yellow Pages. That first year? He made a million dollars.
But the story didn’t stop there.
He sold that business, spent the money, and had to start over. Most people would’ve quit. But Eric didn’t. He dug in deeper. He learned internet marketing before it was mainstream. He studied copywriting, sales psychology, and the emerging world of online business.
In 2007, after years of persistence, heartbreak, and sleepless nights, Eric pulled off something few can claim: a million-dollar day.
But behind that jaw-dropping success is the real story—one of internal battles, resistance, and the daily decision to keep going.
“Every day when we wake up, we can either own our mind—or our mind can own us,” Eric shared on The Samurai Way. “Each day is a spiritual battle. If we don’t put on our armor and prepare for impact, the day will defeat us.”
This is the essence of Ganbaru—the Japanese spirit of perseverance in the face of adversity.
Eric’s journey reminds us that success isn’t about perfection or luck. It’s about resilience. It’s about fighting forward when fear, doubt, and resistance say you can’t.
He’s not driven by ego—but by purpose. Now, in a new season of life, he’s feeling a pull to give more, to serve others, and to help others break through their own mental barriers.
“If you want more in life,” he says, “you have to become more.”
